DepEd in Mandaue to help typhoon victims in other cities, provinces
CEBU, Philippines - Since Mandaue City has been spared from the wrath of Super typhoon Yolanda, the Department of Education (DepEd) in the city will help typhoon victims in the neighboring cities and provinces.
Benjamin Tiongson, DepEd’s administrative officer in the city said that DepEd will launch its relief operations in both public and private schools in the city.
Right after the flag ceremony yesterday morning, students were asked to drop loose change in a jar.
“Bisan ug singkos tabos o 25 cents okay ra kaayo as long as gikan sa kasing-kasing sa atong mga estudyante,†Tingson said.
However, Tiongson yesterday clarified that this assistance is voluntary.
Tiongson said principals will tell teachers about the planned relief campaign.
The teachers will be urged to donate basic commodities such as canned goods, rice, and water.
The donated relief goods will be sent to their division office.
Tiongson said help will also be extended to fellow teachers who also suffered from the typhoon. (FREEMAN)
