Open category draws 8 teams in Talisay Mayor’s Cup
CEBU, Philippines — A total of eight teams will be seeing action in the open category of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
League commissioner Bertoni Salazar said the contenders are divided into two groups of four.
Cansojong, Khecel, Emil’s Chicken and Sherilyn Plastics will slug it out in Bracket A, while Jocyn, EGS, Paragsa, and Drillers are in Bracket B.
They will play a single round robin, with the top two teams per bracket advancing to the crossover semifinals. The winners will dispute the title in a knockout match.
The champion will pocket P50,000, while the second and third placers will receive P40,000 and P30,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, Cansojong and Bulacao hacked out contrasting victories in the seniors division.
Marnie Ybañez chalked up 22 points as Cansojong easily dismantled Jaclupan, 113-63, while Kyle Valmoria and John Ando combined for 34 points for Bulacao, which went through some scary moments before squeezing out a 68-67 cliffhanger over San Isidro. (FREEMAN)
