Strike Open chessfest this weekend

CEBU, Philippines - The Four Central Squares, an affiliate of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), will stage the 1st Strike Open Chess Tournament on November 2-3 at the Robinsons Cybergate.

Close to P20,000 in cash prize is at stake for the top performers of the two-day tilt applying the 7-round Swiss system format using game point scoring system.

The champion in the open category will pocket P4,000, while the second and third will receive P3,000 and P2,000, respectively. The fourth and fifth will take home P1,000 each, while the top female finisher will get a P500 bonus.

In the kiddies (14-under) division, the top three will win P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, while the fourth to fifth as well as the top female player will get P500 apiece.

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) laws of rapid chess shall govern the competition.

Registration fee is pegged at P150 for the kiddies and P200 for the open participants.
