CEBU, Philippines —  A four-day One Cebu Island Expo showcasing the export-quality products of the six component cities of the province and its 44 municipalities as well as the tri-cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu opens at SM Seaside City yesterday.

The activity is part of the 454th Founding Anniversary celebration of Cebu Province. Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the event demonstrates the kind of unshakable unity that Cebu experiences through its united leaders.

“What a journey it has been, from 2008 at the CICC (Cebu International Convention Center) unya karon nahimo na siyang One Cebu Island Expo 2023. What a journey. Nasayod kita unsay naagian niining One Cebu Expo nagsugod pag 2008 ug nagpadayon pag 2012 ug unya naundang ug sa pag-undang daw nakalimot ang kadaghan nga kitang mga Sugbuanon usa ka talagsaong katawhan nga diay sa matag usa ka kasing-kasing anaa ang katakos nga bisan unsa pa nga hagit nga atong maatubang kaya nato mobarug ug kaya nato mobarug og balik basin kapila pa ta matumba,” said Garcia in her speech.

She said the One Cebu Island Expo showcases the unique unity in the entire island.

“And because we are united, we are strong, very strong. So, don’t mess with us, don’t mess with us and do not mess with us. Do not test this unity because it is a formidable one and it is ready to show and it is now showing how formidably united we are in all the products now on display,” Garcia said.

The governor along with Cebu Third District Representative Pablo John Garcia, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, and Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
