“HIMÔ”: Between a House and a Home

CEBU, Philippines - Finely crafted furniture pieces and interiors are molded by a comprehension of metered delicacy, like that of rhyme in precise lines of prose – both born out of an understanding that effective construction punctuates what a writer or designer aims to bring out.

In “HIMÔ: A Space + Making Fair at 32 Sanson by Rockwell”, such metered approach towards furniture and interior design takes center stage – with the premise that home accents and interiors won’t mean anything if they are treated as mere eye candy.

Mainly a celebration of Visayan craftsmanship, the two-day fair – which kicks off today, November 19, and ends tomorrow, at 32 Sanson by Rockwell, along Sanson Road in Lahug – highlights contemporary designs by globally renowned local furniture and home furnishings brands.

Infusing the traditional with the avant-garde, the fair presents the latest by Co-Creative Studio, Coast Pacific, General Bleu, Hacienda Crafts, Interlace, Mehitabel, Obra Cebuana, and the Vito Selma and Debbie Palao marquees, among others.

Primarily curated by the prime movers of HoliCOW (short for “Holistic Coalition of the Willing,” a sustainable furniture and housewares company based in Cebu), the event’s featured pieces reflect how Cebu’s designers are moving towards a balance between tradition and contemporary shifts – with harmony with nature and synchronicity between form and function evolving as de facto norms.

Presented by 32 Sanson by Rockwell in partnership with HoliCOW, the fair was initially conceptualized as an exclusive, semi-private fair for the turnover of the first units of 32 Sanson by Rockwell to its investors by next month. “HIMÔ” has now been envisioned to be an annual fair, celebrating world-class furniture and home accent pieces designed to set the difference between a house and a home.
