CEBU, Philippines — The Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC) is inviting Cebu firms to participate in an upcoming business matching with 26 Japanese investors.

To be held on December 6-7 at the New World Hotel in Makati, the event is in cooperation with Organization for Industrial Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) and seeks to bring together 26 Japanese businessmen representing small and medium-scale business enterprises in various industries.

Aniceto Saludo Jr., PHILJEC chairman, said the two-day event is centered on the theme “Economic prosperity and growth through business matching.” It will highlight a series of one-on-one meetings between Japanese businessmen and potential Filipino partners.

Saludo said seven areas of cooperation will be open to Filipino entrepreneurs: partnership, joint venture, dealer, distributor, financing, marketing and promotion, consultancy/research, and technology transfer.

According to Yasuaki Nagaishi, OISCA-International secretary-general, there are eleven industry-business categories in the business matching forum, including information technology, education, manufacturing, food, agriculture, human resource, trading, energy, services, construction, and real estate.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) already started their respective moves in re-establishing their link with business groups in Japan.

Last year, CCCI inked partnership deal with Himegi Chamber of Commerce. Himeji is a city in the Kansai region of Japan. — JMD (FREEMAN)
