MANILA, Philippines — It’s an all-Abanse Negrense-Sta. Lucia cast in the Final Four as their teams A and B dispatched their quarterfinal opponents yesterday in the Gatorade-PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup in Subic, Zambales.

Abanse Negrense A set up a duel against Sta. Lucia B while  its sister squad Abanse Negrense B also barged into the semis with its own battle against Sta. Lucia A entering the final day of the first volleyball tournament amid the pandemic.

Coming off a flawless run in pool stage, Erjane Magdato and Alexa Polidario of Abanse Negrense A smashed winless Toby’s Sports, 21-12, 21-11, while Sta. Lucia B’s Bang Pineda and Jonah Sabete ousted United Auctioneers, 21-13, 21-15.

Tournament favorites DM Demontano and Jackie Estoquia of Sta. Lucia A, meanwhile, survived F2 Logistics, 16-21, 21-10, 15-10, in a rubber match. Jennifer Cosas and Gelimae Villanueva of Abanse Negrense B eliminated listless Kennedy Solar Energy-Petro Gazz, 21-6, 21-3.

It will be a rematch for both the Abanse Negrense and Sta. Lucia squads after figuring in fierce pool play battles the other day.
