MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Sports Commission yesterday revealed it has caught two more employees, Michaelle Jones Velarde and Lymuel Seguilla, who were allegedly involved in the payroll scam exposed in July last year.

The Department of Justice had already found probable cause to file multiple counts of qualified theft, attempted qualified theft, cyber-related forgery and computer-related fraud against Velarde, Seguilla and Paul Ignacio, who was the first one caught.

The 23-page resolution to file a case in Imus, Cavite against the suspects was signed by Assistant State Prosecutor Moises Acayan, Sr., Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon and Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento.

Because of this, PSC chairman William “Butch” Ramirez has ordered a revamp in its departments and manpower.

“It is a regrettable incident but it compelled us to fast-track upgrades, and consider a second look at existing processes,” said Ramirez.

All three were already dismissed from the government sports-funding agency.

“The investigation is ongoing and will not stop,” said PSC acting executive director Atty. Guillermo Iroy.

Aside from the National Bureau of Investigation, the PSC had also sought the help of the Office of the Solicitor General and the Anti-Money Laundering Council to recover the funds.
