Police to secure ‘hot zones’

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will secure beerhouses, nightclubs and massage parlors in Metro Manila during the SEA Games to secure delegates who might want to unwind before, during and after the staging of the Games.

NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said “party places” in Quezon City and those located along the stretch of Roxas Blvd., in Manila up to Parañaque City would be the “most likely visited” places during the SEA Games.

“I’ve ordered police visibility and intensified foot and mobile patrols in these areas as athletes might turn up in the said establishments after their events,” said Sinas.

“We have already prepared contingency plans not only for athletes but also their officials and guests, whom we considered as tourists, for them to enjoy our hospitality and tourist spots,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a notice to airmen implementing a “no-fly zone” in the surrounding areas of the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan and New Clark City Sports Complex in Tarlac, the main venue of the SEA Games.

The order restricting all aircraft operations within three nautical miles and restrict general aviation flights within 40 nautical miles of the Philippine Arena and NCC from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. will take effect during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games on Nov. 30 and Dec. 11, respectively.
