MANILA, Philippines — Cignal added to the piling woes of slumping Sta. Lucia following an easy 25-8, 25-16, 25-22 sweep to get back on track in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Fil-Hawaiian playmaker Alohi Robins-Hardy paced the HD Spikers with 10 points on five kills, four service aces and a block that came with 12 digs and eight excellent sets.

Mylene Paat added 12 markers on nine attacks and three blocks while May Luna and Janine Marciano contributed nine and eight, respectively, in a huge bounceback win of Cignal that improved its record to 4-5 at fifth spot.

The HD Spikers, the other day, blew a 2-0 lead and suffered a 25-17, 25-21, 11-25, 17-25, 10-15 heartbreaker against reigning champion Petron.

“Our players did a good job this time especially our second stringers. We challenged them to step up and they responded. They proved their worth in this game,” said deputy coach Rico de Guzman.

“It’s been our problem on how to finish good after a strong start. Thankfully this time, we completed the job done. It’s a good bounceback win for us.”

Meanwhile, the Lady Realtors absorbed their ninth straight setback and dropped to 1-9 overall at seventh place halfway through this crucial second round.

They were coming at the heels of a forgettable three-set loss to unbeaten F2 Logistics including a 3-25 second-set defeat – the most lopsided set in Superliga history.

For the second straight game, no player managed to score in double figures for Sta. Lucia with MJ Phillips, Roselle Baliton and Mary Joy Dacoron settling for just six apiece.
