MANILA, Philippines — Olivarez College scored an expected 91-68 romp over winless St. Joseph College of Bulacan to move within a win from a first round sweep while Diliman College edged Technological Institute of the Philippines, 92-90, to join idle Centro Escolar U at second in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 yesterday.
The Sea Lions bounced back from a second quarter struggle with a big run in the third period then went on to clobber the Bulacan cagers to stretch their win run to five at the Olivarez College in Parañaque.
Diliman, on the other hand, squandered a 66-50 lead but kept its poise in the stretch to thwart TIP and post its fourth win in five games.
Paulo Castro led Olivarez with 22 points while Vinny Begaso and Chris Lalata added 10 markers apiece.
Robbi Darang paced Diliman with 28 points, John Mahari added 23 markers, four assists and three rebounds while Benin’s Kevine Gandjeto had a double-double game of 11 points and 11 boards.
