Lady Spikers wary vs Falcons
MANILA, Philippines — La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus hopes to see his wards play to their true potential as the Lady Spikers take on the Adamson Lady Falcons in the UAAP women’s volleyball at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today.
Despite their straight-set 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 victory over the UE Lady Warriors last Wednesday that put the Lady Spikers (4-1) back on track following a five-set setback to the National U Lady Bulldogs, De Jesus was far from being satisfied.
“I can’t see the aggressiveness, there was no communication inside. I can’t see the polish and I’m really disappointed,” said De Jesus of the Lady Spikers.
Ranged against the Lady Falcons (2-3) at 4 p.m., De Jesus warns his wards against taking their rivals lightly while stressing the need for them to sustain their fire from start to finish.
“We can’t take them lightly because the moment they get the momentum, they’re hard to stop. Adamson is a complete team and they have a good connection with each other,” said De Jesus.
De Jesus is also wary of Adamson’s setter, Fenela Risha Emnas.
“They’re a veteran team and they have a very good setter,” said De Jesus.
The multi-titled coach also wants his team to hit their spikes well.
“We need to improve our wings because our hitting percentages have dropped,” said De Jesus.
Meanwhile, Far Eastern (2-2), seeks to join Ateneo at third at 3-2 as it tangles with winless UE in the 2 p.m. opener.
