MANILA, Philippines – Multi-titled collegiate coach Frankie Lim on Wednesday was officially named head coach of the Perpetual Help Altas.

Perpetual Help team owner Antonio Tamayo made the announcement after their former coach, Nigerian Nosa Omorogbe, recently went back home citing family reasons.

“Nic (Omorogbe) went back to Nigeria and attend to family problems,” said Tamayo.

Lim, who won NCAA championships as player and coach of the San Beda Lions, was initially named team consultant and in charge of the Las Pinas-based school’s basketball program last month before receiving the call of his new assignment.

Now, he’s in full control of the team.

“Yes, I’m now the coach,” said Lim.

Lim will make his debut with the Altas when they play Che’Lu Bar and Grill on Monday in the PBA-D-League Aspirants Cup at the Pasig Sports Center as part of the team’s preparation for the NCAA’s 94th season.

Under Omorogbe, Perpetual Help made it to the Final Four two seasons ago but faltered the next season with a 4-14 (win-loss) record.
