MANILA, Philippines — The Santa Monica Cockpit in Quezon City is gearing up for an 11-leg five-cock derby this coming summertime.

The SMC 11-leg 5-cock derby circuit will run its course from March 1 to May 7, with total circuit prize at P12-million.

Rey Tolentino, SMC operator, said they are expecting 40 entries per derby, or a total of 100 fights each, with prize winnings at P1-million.

Among the promoters of the circuit are Tokwing, Armand Santos, Marvin Rillo, HGM Rancheros, Nick Crisostomo, Jenny Escalona, Louie Madlambayan, Alex Aguirre, Tuban Magasa and Gildo Capuchino.

Tolentino said the 11-leg circuit came about because of the successful launching of the 11-leg Stag Derby in September last year, also held at the Santa Monica cockpit.

The SMC holds regular derbies every Monday and Thursday night.
