MANILA, Philippines - Wesley So lost to Russian Sergey Karjakin in the ninth and final round Saturday night to finish sixth out of 10 in the Grand Chess Tour Paris Rapid 2017 in France that was topped by world champion Magnus Carlsen.
So managed just 4.5 points in a tournament he wasn’t expected to win since he is not that ranked high in events with faster time controls including this one, which gives 25 minutes per player with increments.
