PSL Game 3: Test of heart, desire

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Fancied Petron has the momentum but Foton is hungry for recognition as they gear up for a battle royale in tomorrow’s rubber match for the 2015 Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix women’s volleyball crown at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Blaze Spikers, seeking to complete a rare three-peat, struggled in the series opener but stormed back in Game 2 to send the match into a winner-take-all affair.

Petron coach George Pascua said it will boil down to which team plays with a lot of heart.

“It all boils down to who will have the desire and the fighting heart to win the crown,” said Pascua, the seasoned mentor who also guided Petron to the previous Grand Prix and All-Filipino Conference titles as well as in the AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship in Vietnam last September.

“Game 3 is not just an ordinary game. We have to seize the opportunity and unleash all weapons we have to make sure that we will emerge as the last team standing. Since we’re here, we have to do our very best,” he added.

It will be the league’s first-ever Game 3.

In fact, the Blaze Spikers won their two previous crowns in dominant fashion with the last coming off a sweep of the double-round eliminations before crushing Shopinas in a two-game titular showdown.

“This is the most difficult conference for us,” said Pascua. “That’s why I told the girls to give everything they can to win the crown. It will be a question of desire and heart.”
