FEU, UST fans turn ‘yellow’ in title series

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Everybody caught the “yellow fever” yesterday as supporters of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern – clad in their identical school colors yellow – came in droves to cheer for their respective schools with enthusiasm and boundless energy from their seats.

Fans, most of whom fought hard to secure their tickets, tirelessly applauded  every basket, every good play, and shouted “go Us-te, go Us-te” and “let’s go, Tamaraws,  let’s go” at the top of their voice, and waved yellow and white clacker balloons, seeking to lift their cagers.

Although most ot the fans were clad in yellow shirits, there were some who came in green sweat suits pr yellow jersey with green pipings – the color combine for FEU.

High-profile alumni and former players took time off to witness the final reckoning.

Former Tigers Jeric Teng, Aljon Mariano, Jeric Fortuna, and Joel Villanueva were among those in the UST crowd.

RR Garcia, Mac Baracael, Marc Pingris and comedian Vice Ganda joined the FEU horde.

Some used the winner-take-all duel to showcase their creativity.

Banners that read: “ChamFEUn” and “one last charge” were unfurled by FEU fans.

Over at UST, they had “stop the charge” and “#abdulnation” a play on the Aldub phenom.
