AdU rules ‘Hit it Home’ shootout

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Adamson University ruled Avida’s “Hit It Home” basketball shootout challenge in the recent UAAP Season 76, a contest testing the shooting skills of students and alumni of the eight member universities during game days.

Students and alumni of the Falcons bested their rivals in the race for the highest number of points on the shootout booth set up every game day during the UAAP’s elimination rounds, accumulating 55,757 points to beat University of the East (41,992).

For this win, Adamson netted the grand prize of P500,000 intended for its sports program.

â€œWe’d like to make use of the prize to finance the major rehabilitation of our weights facility,” said Adamson’s athletic director Malou Isip, adding that “the victory reflected the fighting spirit prevailing in the Adamson community.”

The Avida Hit It Home promo ran from June to September, drawing huge participation from fans, who trooped to the Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum for the UAAP games.

Each shooter was given 60 seconds to score as many points in the Avida Hit It Home shootout booth, and his total went to his university’s tally.

Avida Land said it was pleased with the positive response from UAAP fans.

“As this is the first time that we’re doing this activity, we were looking forward to the support of UAAP fans. We’re pleased to see the consistent flow of a good number of participants per week. Aside from this, we are looking forward to being able to help the sports program in the university level,” said Avida marketing head Tess Tatco.

She added that the Hit It Home shootout promo was Avida’s way of supporting the UAAP games and collegiate sports by promoting unity and channeling students’ skills and school spirit towards a good cause.
