Juggernauts, Bandits down rivals in Arenaball

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Juggernauts and the Bandits fashioned out a pair of victories over their respective rivals in the Arenaball Philippines at the Marikina Sports Park in Marikina City recently.

The Juggernauts cranked up the pace early, taking a 7-0 lead at the half before coasting to a 16-8 victory over the Rebels.

The Juggernauts took advantage of their speed in the second half by rushing the Rebels more, compiling a couple of sacks and pressuring the quarterback a number of times for the win, their second straight. The Rebels slid to 1-1.

Earlier, the Bandits leaned on rookies Dino Teves, Ritchie Lavarro, James Dimagiba to post a 21-6 romp over the Wolves and tie the Rebels at 1-1.

The Wolves slid to 0-2.

The Bandits seized control early, surging to a six-point lead in the second with Dimagiba coming up with an interception and breaking two tackles on a winding return for a 12-0 lead at halftime.

The Bandits sustained their pace at resumption, capped by a 2-yard score by RB Will Yeh. After trading possessions, the Wolves found a running game of their own as David Jumola stormed into the Bandits defense, resulting to the Wolves’ first season touchdown on a 15 yard run.

But the Bandits toughened up on their defense to close out scoring.

Meanwhile, action resumes today with Game 4 starting from 1 p.m., also at the Marikina Sports Park.
