MANILA, Philippines — Pinangunahan kahapon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang kanyang unang Cabinet meeting kung saan binigyang halaga ang ekonomiya at kalagayan ng bansa.

“I ask the what we call the economics group, which is the Secretary of Finance, the [Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas] Go­vernor, and the [National Economic and Development Authority] to give us a briefing on the general situation economically because I think we can all understand that the most important area that we will have to deal with would have to be the economy,” ani Marcos.

Sinabi rin ng Pangulo na ang pangunahing polisiya na susundin ng lahat ay ang itatakda ng mga economic managers kaya nais niyang marinig ang sasabihin ng mga ito.

“The central policy that everybody else would be following will be that set out by our economic mana­gers. So I ask the economic team to give us a briefing,” ani Marcos.

Si Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio na tumayo ring pinuno ng Department of Education ang nanguna sa opening prayer.

Ayon kay Solicitor Ge­neral Menardo Guevarra, naging produktibo ang apat na oras na Cabinet meeting.

Kabilang sa pinagtuunan ng pansin ni Marcos ang pagkontrol sa inflation, pagtiyak sa food security, pagsuporta sa transportation sector, at pagbubukas ng face-to-face classes.

Ang iba pang “areas of concern” ay tatalakayin sa mga susunod na meeting ng Gabinete.
