Villar: CAAP, nagbigay ng go signal sa pagpapatayong wetland park structures sa Manila Bay

MANILA, Philippines — Ikinagalak ni Sen. Cynthia Villar ang pagpapalabas ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) ng clearance na nagbibigay pahintulot sa pagpapatayo ng wetland park facilities sa Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Eco-Tourism Area (LPPCHEA).

Sa liham kay Villar na may petsang September 14, 2017, nagbigay si CAAP Director-General Capt. Jim Sydiongco ng clearance para sa pagpapatayo ng mga istraktura sa LPPCHEA.

“With this clearance, we can start the construction of the wetland center at LPPCHEA for the holding in Manila of the 12th Session of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS COP12) on October 20 this year,” ayon kay Villar.

Noong April, sinimulan na ang pagpapatayo sa LPPCHEA ng visitor’s center na itinaguyod ng Villar Famil. Ito ay magsisilbing drop-off point at gathering area ng mga tao na bumibisita sa parke. 

Itinatakda ng Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) ang pagkakaroon ng clearance mula sa CAAP bago payagan ang Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) na magsimulang magtayo ng wetland center para sa museum, training center, opisina ng  Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), at restaurant.

Ang 175-hectare LPPCHEA ay protected eco­tourism area at kabilang sa Ramsar List bilang Wetland of International Importance.Ito ay sanctuary para sa 84 endangered at vulnerable species ng endemic at migratory birds mula Siberia. Ito rin ay breeding site ng vulnerable Philippine Duck at sumusuporta sa natitirang 100,000 Black-Winged Stilts sa buong mundo.

Isinusulong ni Villar, chair ng Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, ang pagpapatayo ng  Las Piñas- Parañaque Wetland Park para matiyak ang konserbasyon ng LPPCHEA at mapaigting  ang natural  landscape nito upang  maging komportable at educational ang pagbisita rito ng mga tao.
