Overseas voters tumaas

MANILA, Philippines - Tumaas ang bilang ng mga bagong botante mula sa unang buwan ng Overseas Voter Registration bilang pagha­handa sa 2016 Presidential Elections.

Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs-Overseas Secretariat, nitong Mayo 2014, ang Philippine Foreign Service Posts ay nakapag-proseso ng 18,631 bagong overseas voter registrants.

Lumalabas na 111 porsyento ang taas nito mula sa dating 8,819 ng unang buwan ng rehistrasyon ng mga botante noong 2013 Senatoral elections; 64% na mas mataas sa 11,397 noong Presidential elections; at mas mataas ng 630% ng 2,543 noong 2007 Senatorial elections.

Dahil sa pag-angat ng bilang ng overseas voters ay posibleng makuha ang target ng pamahalaan na 1 milyong overseas voters sa pagtatapos ng rehistrasyon o pagpapatala sa Oktubre 2015.

Nabatid na nakapagtala ang FSPs sa Middle East at Africa ng 7,301 bagong OV registrants, may 5,186 mula sa Amerika, 3,160 sa European FSPs at 2,984 mula sa Asia Pacific. Ang top ten performers ay ang Riyadh (1,398), Los Angeles (1,354), Jeddah (1,136), San Francisco (1,018), Abu Dhabi (973), Singapore (903), Dubai (877), New York (848), Lisbon (731) at London (678).
