MANILA, Philippines — Sisimulan ng apat na koponan ang kani-kanilang best-of-seven semifinals series patungo sa Season 48 PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

Haharapin ng Barangay Ginebra ang Meralco ngayong alas-7:30 ng gabi habang magtutuos ang San Miguel at Rain or Shine sa alas-4:30 ng hapon sa MOA Arena sa Pasay City.

Sa apat, ang Bolts ang sumasakay sa isang five-game winning streak mula elimination hanggang quarterfinal round.

“It’s going to be a battle. Meralco is the hottest team entering the playoffs and they already beat us up in the elims,” sabi ni Gin Kings coach Tim Cone.

Tinalo ng Meralco ang Ginebra, 91-73, sa eliminasyon.

“It’s always tough and hard when we face Ginebra. They’re well-coached, they got depth and then they added some guys like (Ralph) Cu who are r­eally great role players,” ani Bolts mentor Luigi Trillo sa Gin Kings.

Muling sasandigan ng Ginebra sina Christian Standhardinger, Scottie Thompson, Stanley P­ringle at Maverick Ahanmisi katapat sina Chris Newsome, Allein Maliksi, Cliff Hodge, Raymond Almazan at rookie Brandon Bates ng Meralco.

Sinibak ng Gin Kings ang Magnolia Hotshots, 99-77 habang winalis ng Bolts ang NLEX Road Warriors, 97-93 at 100-81, sa quarterfinals.

Sa unang laro, inamin ni coach Yeng Guiao na dehado ang kanyang Elasto Painters sa kanilang serye ng Beermen.

“Pero pahihirapan namin sila. Ganoon lang ang magagawa namin. Kung manalo, manalo. Kung matalo, kailangan matalo ka na nakataas ang noo mo after the game,” ani Guiao.

Pinatalsik ng San Miguel ang Terrafirma, 110-91, at pinagbakasyon ng Rain or Shine ang TNT Tropang Giga, 2-1, sa kani-kanilang quarterfinals matchup.
