Salamat pinatunayang handa na sa Asian Games

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Isang araw bago ang pagtiklop ng mga kompetisyon ay bumandera ang host pro­vince sa paghakot ng mga gintong medalya, samantalang ipinakita ni national team member Marella Salamat na siya pa rin ang top female cyclist sa bansa.

Kumolekta ang Cebu City ng 36 gold, 46 silver at 48 bronze medals para manguna sa overall medal tally kasunod ang Baguio City (24-27-29), Mandaluyong City (20-11-12), General Santos City (16-22-25), Zamboanga City (13-5-11), Mandaue City (12-6-7), Leyte Province (11-5-3), Cebu Province (10-11-20), Pangasinan (10-9-7), Manila (9-7-10).

Sa cycling sa Brgy. Tabuk, Danao City, kinolekta ng 24-anyos na si Salamat ang kanyang ikatlong gintong medalya matapos magsumite ng 20 points sa women’s criterium event para talunin sina Avegail Rombaon (11 points) ng Iriga City at Marianne Grace Dacumos (9 points) ng Parañaque City.

“Happy naman po ako sa naging performance ko since naka-tatlong golds ako,” sabi ni Salamat, ang gold medalist sa Individual Time Trial noong 2015 Southeast Asian Games at bronze medal winner  sa road race noong 2016 World University Cycling Championship.

“Itong Philippine National Games ang parang preparation ko for the co­ming  Asian Games in Indonesia,” dagdag pa ng Dentistry student ng University of the East na nagreyna sa ITT at road race events ng 2018 PNG.

Samantala, limang ginto ang sinipa ng Cebu City sa taekwondo mula kina Ai­daine Laxa (individual junior women poomsae), Laxa, Cheyena dela Fuente at Chia Besanes (team event), Lee Robiegayle Navales (individual senior women), Navales, Nichole Maurin at Johnsey Sanchez (senior women’s team) at Aldrein Abrio, Scott Hermosa at Lyan Llanto (senior men’s team).
