Police rule out arson in Quezon City fire

MANILA, Philippines — There is no evidence that a man who was beaten by irate residents was responsible for the fire that hit Barangay Central, Quezon City on Tuesday, police said.
Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo, Quezon City Police District director, did not confirm if the man, identified only as Vin, intentionally set a house on fire, which displaced over 100 families along Waling-Waling street.
Olazo urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.
The fire broke out at around 12:47 p.m. on Tuesday and reached the fifth alarm.
Firefighters put out the blaze at 3:35 p.m.
