Cooking ‘Cinegang’

You read that right, no typographical errors there. This isn’t about the iconic Filipino sour broth or stew, though, but about a soon-to-be iconic mover in the Filipino film industry and even the world.
CineGang, Inc. was organized to revitalize the Philippine film industry by unlocking its boundless potential.
It is driven by a unified and united passion for Philippine cinema, committed to promoting, developing, and elevating local movies and talents.
CineGang Inc. took it upon itself to cultivate the richness of Pinoy talent while preserving our cultural identity and brand of moviemaking on the global screen.
Its incorporators are Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Andrew Tan, Philippine Ambassador to Israel Pedro “Junie” Laylo Jr., Ikon Solutions Asia managing director Paolo Roberto Martel, Esquire Financing Inc. CEO Rajan Uttamchandani, and businessman Paolo Victor del Rosario.
The CineGang mission is four-fold: elevate Filipino talent; celebrate Filipino cinema; unite the Filipino film industry; and give back and pay it forward to the Filipino movie-going community through civic projects and outreach programs.
No less than the First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos has spearheaded this movement.

As early as February of last year, the First Lady sat down with industry movers and patrons to see how they can move the Filipino film industry forward. A follow-up meeting was held in April, then another meeting with Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) organizers in May.
Things picked up in November when another meeting was held with industry leaders and stakeholders at the Mirax building in Makati where CineGang Inc. set up office. The MIFF also set up a temporary office there.
A series of meetings were held thereafter, followed by a Golf Invitational at the Pangarap Golf Course in Malacañan, culminating in the formal launch of CineGang Inc. at the Laperal Mansion.
(Am pleased to note that my son, Javi, and I won in the Golf Invitational held at the beautiful Pangarap Golf Course).
From thereon, CineGang Inc. opened its doors to the industry, inviting all stakeholders to its Mirax office as a working space for industry folks.

“Swing by CineGang’s new office — a cozy space for scriptwriters, directors, artists and everyone from the movie industry to meet, collaborate and spark creativity,” the First Lady herself urged.
Currently, the group is working on one of its key projects, which is to bring the Manila International Film Festival to Hollywood through a Filipino festival this 2025.
It is good that the First Lady is an avid supporter of the creative industry and the movie industry. She truly believes that Filipinos do have a place in the international stage.
“We’re here to shine the spotlight on our movie industry that truly deserves it,” the First Lady emphasized. “Let’s create magic together, one frame at a time!” *
