Wildflour is well-loved. As you can see, its restaurant/bakeries all over town are always full. It also has Little Flour,  which is also a go-to place to eat.

The restaurant, owned by sisters Ana Lorenzana de Ocampo and Margarita “Margie” Lorenzana Manzke, recently launched its new venture, Wildflour Italian, in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The event also coincided with the launch of Margie’s book Baking at Republique. Margie, a five-time semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Pastry Chef Award, also co-owns renowned French eatery Republique in Los Angeles with her husband and business partner Walter Manzke. Her book features recipes for cakes and brioche, as well as some of my favorites like croissants and kouign amann. During the launch, several guests bought the book, which Margie gladly signed for them.

Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, Ana Lorenzana de Ocampo and Ambassador Sung Kim.

Guests sampled three types of pizza and small plates of different types of pasta. They also indulged in those delicious Republique chocolate chip cookies (the recipe is also in Margie’s book) and some Italian pastries such as bomboloni or stuffed Italian doughnuts.

Spotted at the event were Bella Yuchengco and daughter Sunshine Puey, Nana Ozaeta, Cheryl Tiu, Beth Romualdez, Carmela Agosta, Bambi Sy, Angelo Comsti and JJ Yulo.

Dishes served at the event were just a preview of what the restaurant has to offer. And based on what I’ve tasted that afternoon, Wildflour Italian will be another hit!

Congratulations, Ana and Margie!
