An Italian espresso tradition

- The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  Segafredo Zanetti brought the Italian espresso tradition to the Philippines by bringing in two world-renowned espresso masters from Italy and Japan. They were flown in to the Philippines to share their knowledge about authentic Italian espresso.

Grand chef barista of Segafredo Japan Ilija Naumovski and Andrea Borghesan of Segafredo Zanetti Coffee Systems Italy shared secret techniques on how to concoct an excellent cup of espresso. Naumovski and Borghesan’s demonstrations wowed the crowd, including my travel and shopping partner Tessa Prieto-Valdes who couldn’t help but exclaim, “Best coffee ever!”

Segafredo Zanetti is the only coffee company in the country that has 100 percent ownership and full control of its coffee production, from the beans that were gathered from the largest and finest coffee plantations in the world, to each cup served in every local franchise. The training and demo session was held to ensure that the quality of Segafredo Zanetti Espresso remains true to its authenticity as it is passed on from one country to another.

The company continues to strengthen the espresso tradition by offering more coffee machine variants to its consumers. The company’s newest machine, the Myespresso, is manufactured with the highest quality in mind as Segafredo believes that the machine is just as important as the coffee it produces. A 19-bar pressure pump allows maximum, rich flavor to be quickly delivered in just a few seconds.

Apart from Segafredo Zanetti, the machine brand for hotels, restaurants and cafes; and Segafredo Zanetti Espresso, the brand exclusive for espresso bars, the company also delivers the Segafredo Coffee System for home and office machines. Large-scale espresso machines are being produced under La San Marco, the Segafredo brand for industrial use.

The company aspires for Filipinos to partake in this Italian espresso tradition by making the Segafredo Complete Coffee Solutions available locally. Maxine Chua-Maramba, Segafredo Zanetti GM, said, “Our mission is to spread the taste, the culture and preparation method of the true Italian espresso. We want to provide complete coffee solutions to households, small offices, hotels, restaurants and cafes, for them to enjoy the quality products Segafredo has to offer.”

Since the opening of its first café in the Philippines in 2002, Segafredo Zanetti has continued to provide authentic Italian coffee to its customers.
