‘Crime scene preservation now SOP for PNP’
This is in reference to your editorial article, dated June 3, 2013, entitled “Scene Preservationâ€.
In this regard, we would like to seek your attention regarding your article about the usual crime scene preservation of our police officers.
Please be informed that the “probers in white suits†(as mentioned in your article) were actually our personnel in the PNP from the Crime Laboratory, Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) personnel wearing their “haz-mat†suits as part of our General SOCO Procedures. This practice of preservation of crime scene, meticulous examination and collection of evidences, utilization of modern investigation techniques and equipment are part of the current initiatives of the PNP in shifting to a scientific way of conducting investigation. In addition, the PNP continuously exert efforts to enhance the skills and capabilities of investigators as part of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030. “Our Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding the Rule-Of-Law†enhanced by the Chief PNP’s strategic focus “CODE-Pâ€.
