MASA Pilipinas basks in double championship glory in CYBL tourney
CEBU, Philippines — The Miguel Aloysius Sports Academy (MASA) Pilipinas basked in the glow of a golden double in the recently concluded Cebu Youth Basketbal League (CYBL) March Madness tournament.
In the boys 17 Under category, MASA Pilipinas vanquished the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 41-31, to emerge as champion.
Under the guidance of head coach Rhalf Enoc assisted by Jonas Juntilla and Yhanah Zhannielle Pascual, the MASA boys U17 squad is powered by Sean Anthony Undras, Harry Scott Codog, El Mark Morro, Adrian Cano, Earl Russel Cano, Lorenz Magallon, Reindon Gozon, Joshua Serenio, Socrates Nodalo Jr., Kian Angelo Rosal, Jedrek Juntilla, Philip Jefferson Macahilos, Juan Paolo Venezuela, Gumer Maghuyop Jr, and Andrei Patiño.
On the other hand, the Sisters of Mary School-Girlstown/MASA edged Abellana National School (ANS) via a close 13-10 decision to grab the girls Under 14 crown.
Behind the tutelage of Rodney Aldojesa and his assistant Danica Caintoy, the MASA girls U14 team is composed of Aubrey Suazo, Mary Jane Dejos, Miah Cariaga, Gladie Leanne Jacobe, and Amelia Idias.
In the girls 16 Under division, MASA made it to the top five through the efforts of Aprilyn Montebon, Kriza Subiza, Quisha Menedz, Ezel Carol Ferreras, and Danica Vasaya.
