‘The welfare of the people is the supreme law’

THOUGHTS TO GUIDE US BY - Elvie Punzalan-Estavillo - The Philippine Star

The die is cast! The people have spoken. Their choice must be respected.

The promises made during the wooing-votes time must be honored, delivered... for people voted because of them.

May the newly-elected people’s “servants” realize that “the welfare of the people is the supreme law.” That when the leader is righteous and effective, people rejoice, and proud of their leaders… the country flourishes, prospers.

Lamentably, when the leader is wicked and ineffective, people are sad, disappointed… the country stagnates, sinks deeper.  Negativism pervades!

May the painful, precious lessons from our history sink into their minds and, with the strongest determination, exert every effort to push our country forward and put behind the years of humps and bruises, of ups and downs of our tottering economy so Filipinos can reclaim our lost glory and prosperity.

To be worthy leaders to unite the Filipinos... for only in unity can we move forward, upward, to the path of peace and prosperity. And erase the sickening blight over our country.

Pray that they be guided with great patriotic love to brighten our hopes, and illuminate our tomorrows!

Peace, good health, safety and abundance to us all!
