MANILA, Philippines — Sixty-two people have been rescued after a motor launch developed engine trouble in the waters off Tawi-Tawi.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) dispatched a search and rescue team after receiving a distress call on Monday from the M/L Trisha Mae.

The team located the Trisha Mae and towed it toward the Port of Bongao.

On Tuesday night, the PCG reported that the 62 people including 10 crewmembers were in good physical condition.

PCG chief Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan commended the members of the rescue team, saying that a swift, coordinated and timely maritime response is vital in protecting lives at sea.
