Jonvic: Manhunt for Bato on track
MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla maintained yesterday that the manhunt for fugitive Sen. Ronald dela Rosa remains on track.
Dela Rosa has been eluding police tracker teams since the Senate shooting in May.
Remulla admitted there are challenges in arresting Dela Rosa, which he attributed to the senator’s law enforcement background.
Without going into details, Remulla said the Philippine National Police is still on track in its operations to locate Dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
“We are actively pursuing him,” Remulla said.
He also admitted that locating Dela Rosa and another fugitive, former Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag, is challenging because of their experience in law enforcement and familiarity with police procedures.
As a result, Remulla said: “Dela Rosa and Bantag are always one step ahead of police tracker teams.”
