MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared May 8 a special non-working day in Digos City in Davao del Sur for the celebration of the Apobay Festival.

“The City of Digos celebrates the Apobay Festival every first Friday of May, which falls on May 1, a regular holiday (Labor Day),” Proclamation 1237 said.

To enable the people of Digos City to fully participate in the occasion, the Office of the Mayor requested that May 8, Friday, be declared as a special non-working day in lieu of May 1, the proclamation said.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Digos be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” it said.

Proclamation 1237 was signed on April 28 by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by the authority of President Marcos.
