MANILA, Philippines — Senate foreign relations committee chairman Erwin Tulfo commended South Korean Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa for his swift intervention in dismantling the discriminatory “No Filipino policy” enforced by several Korean-owned KTVs and restaurants in Pampanga.

The senator raised the alarm after receiving reports that local patrons were being turned away from several foreign-owned businesses in Angeles City and the Clark Freeport Zone.

“Complaints have reached our office regarding the policy of several Korean KTV and restaurants in Central Luzon prohibiting Filipinos from entering their establishment,” Tulfo said.

Acting on the issue, Lee launched an investigation and coordinated with the Central Luzon Korean Association to implement corrective measures.

“Among the steps taken by the reported Korean-owned KTVs and restaurants are the posting of apologies on their doors regarding the policy and a promise that they will not do it anymore,” Tulfo said.
