PCG rescues 53 people off Bataan, Laguna

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 13 fishermen after their wooden-hulled fishing boat collided with a liquefied petroleum gas tanker off Barangay Lamao in Limay, Bataan last week.

The PCG also rescued 40 people in Lumban, Laguna after their boat sank during a fluvial parade yesterday.

Initial investigation showed that the revelers were participating in the Lupi Festival when their boat sank.

On the incident in Bataan, the PCG said the 13 were on the fishing boat FBCA Jun-Jun when it collided with the tanker SL Bisugo.

According to vesselfinder.com, the SL Bisugo is a Philippines-flagged 48-year-old LPG tanker.

The rescued fishermen were taken to Barangay Lamao Rural Health Unit for medical evaluation. They were assessed to be in good physical condition.

They were later accommodated at the Coast Guard Sub-station Limay as they waited for their relatives to pick them up.
