MANILA, Philippines — Provincial buses will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers along EDSA amid the holiday travels, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced yesterday.

The MMDA said provincial buses would be allowed to enter EDSA from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Dec. 20 to 23 and around the clock starting Christmas Eve until Jan. 2, 2026.

“Allowing provincial buses to use parts of EDSA would enable a faster turnaround time and uninterrupted trips,” the agency said in an advisory.

Buses from north of Luzon should stop at terminals in Cubao, Quezon City while those from south of Luzon should end their trips at either the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange or at their terminals in Pasay City.

Alex Yague, Provincial Bus Operators’ Association of the Philippines executive director, said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board earlier issued special permits to around 1,500 air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned provincial buses to accommodate an anticipated surge of passengers during the holiday rush.
