MANILA, Philippines — Up to P10.6 million in cash incentives was given yesterday by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 30 civilian informants who were instrumental in the arrest of wanted persons.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. handed over the cash rewards to informants during a ceremony at Camp Crame.

Wearing black shirts and jackets and their faces covered by bonnets to conceal their identities, the informants received the cash gifts from Nartatez.

One of the informants got P5.3 million for information that led to the arrest of Isnirul Kirih in Zamboanga City, an alleged Abu Sayyaf rebel wanted for seven counts of murder and 25 counts of frustrated murder.

The other tipsters received rewards ranging from P50,000 to P500,000 for the arrest of fugitives facing offenses such as murder, kidnapping and serious illegal detention, rape as well as acts of lasciviousness.
