A grab from handout footage released by Yemen's Huthi Ansarullah Media Centre on November 19, 2023, reportedly shows members of the rebel group during the capture of an Israel-linked cargo vessel at an undefined location in the Red Sea. Israeli ships are a "legitimate target", Yemen's Huthi rebels warned on November 20, a day after their seizure of the Galaxy Leader and its 25 international crew following an earlier threat to target Israeli shipping over the Israel-Hamas war.

MANILA, Philippines —  Nine Filipino seafarers on MV Eternity C, who were held hostage in July by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, will be released, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

Omani authorities told the DFA that the sailors will be transferred from Sana’a, Yemen to Muscat, Oman before returning to the Philippines.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro had discussed the seamen’s plight with Omani Foreign Minister Sayed Badr bin Hamad El-Busaidi.

The Philippine embassy in Muscat and Migrant Workers Office-Muscat will arrange the return of the sailors.

In July, Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Eternity C was sailing through the Red Sea on its way to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia when Houthis attacked the vessel for days with rocket-propelled grenades.
