PNP 100% ready for SONA – Torre

MANILA, Philippines — Security measures are in place for the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos on July 28, the Philippine National Police announced yesterday.
PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III gave the assurance as cause-oriented groups are planning to mobilize 10,000 people for anti-SONA protests in Quezon City.
“We are 100 percent ready,” Torre told reporters.
The PNP will deploy around 13,000 police personnel at the Batasang Pambansa complex where Marcos will deliver his address to the nation.
Police will also be fielded along major roads in Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila.
Torre witnessed the civil disturbance management competition of the National Capital Region Police Office at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, to ensure the NCRPO’s readiness for the SONA.
The PNP has not monitored any threats to the SONA, but Torre said they are not letting their guard down.
