First mpox case confirmed in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Health authorities confirmed the first case of mpox here as they reported that the patient is in stable condition and receiving proper medical care.
Outgoing Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the patient is being monitored and in isolation at a designated facility.
“I want to assure everyone that the city government has long prepared for situations like this. Mpox is a manageable disease and with proper health protocols we can prevent further spread,” said Benitez, who is also the incoming Bacolod district representative.
The city government advised the public to stay calm, practice proper hygiene, observe health protocols and seek medical attention if symptoms arise.
