BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A former teacher has apologized for harassing motorists driving past her house in Vintar, Ilocos Norte.

Renie Leaño, 74, issued the apology after video footage showing her hurling a piece of wood at a motorcycle rider in Barangay Bulala went viral on social media.

Leaño said she merely intended to warn motorists to slow down when driving past her house as the noise produced by their vehicles disturbs her. She said she did not mean to hurt any of them.

Leaño said that in 2016, she asked barangay officials to put a barricade or hump in front of her house to compel drivers to slow down.

She said the barangay did not act on her request, prompting her to take matters into her hands.

Leaño promised not to harass motorists again.
