Batangas power coop draws flak from consumers
LIPA, Philippines — Residents of various towns in Batangas have expressed concern over what they described as “worsening power service” provided by Batangas II Electric Cooperative.
Batelec II is the distributor of electric power to San Juan, Taysan, Lobo, Rosario, Mabini, Tingloy, Bauan, San Pascual, Ibaan, Alitagtag, Cuenca, San Jose, Mataas na Kahoy, Balete, Padre Garcia, Malvar, Talisay, Laurel and Batangas City.
Consumers cited recurring power outages lasting for several hours and high generation rates.
Residents said frequent power interruptions result in incovenience in their daily lives and massive losses to businesses.
Members of the municipal council of Lobo have filed resolutions to formalize the complaints of affected consumers. They hope the resolutions will reach Congress.
Meanwhile, Batelec II consumer services and public relations manager Joan Orias said power outages in Batangas were due to weather disturbances, which damaged power lines and insulations.
