Bella Cariaso - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is looking into a viral video of an “airport meter rate” shown to a tourist by a taxi driver.

LTFRB spokesperson Celine Pialago said they are checking the veracity of the alleged airport meter rate provided to the tourist.

“We take such matters seriously and are committed to ensuring the integrity and fairness of taxi services. Our priority is to uphold the standards of service and protect the rights of passengers,” Pialago said.

She encouraged passengers who may have information or have experienced similar incidents to come forward.

Pialago assured the public that measures would be taken, based on the findings of the investigation to uphold the accountability of taxi operators and drivers.

“(LTFRB) chief (Teofilo) Guadiz assures the public that the agency remains dedicated to addressing any violations promptly and implementing the necessary actions to maintain the quality of public transportation services,” she said.

According to Pialago, the LTFRB remains committed to fostering a safe, reliable and fair transportation environment for commuters.
