MANILA, Philippines — Taguig has received multiple commendations and recognitions for its health programs and reform strategies, the city government said yesterday.

The Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development recognized Taguig for its performance in implementing health reform strategies and providing high quality services for its residents, ultimately contributing to achieving universal health care in the metropolis.

Taguig was one of only eight local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to receive the DOH award.

The city government said it also received a plaque of appreciation for its contribution in strengthening the program implementation.

Taguig was also conferred a certificate of recognition for documenting and sharing good practices in health strategy to address health issues within the community.

“The city also stands as one of only two LGUs in the Philippines invited to a global meeting to showcase its best practices in the National Immunization Program and hailed as an immunization champion for reaching every purok in the city,” the city government said.

Apart from these, Taguig was also recognized for its implementation of other health programs including its motherhood, adolescent health development, mental health programs as well as disaster risk reduction and management in health.
