Caregiver stabs PWD dead

MANILA, Philippines — Police have launched a manhunt for a caregiver who allegedly stabbed to death a person with disability (PWD) in Quezon City on Thursday.

Jobert Ortega is the prime suspect in the murder of 61-year-old Marcelino Lacsamana, probers said. Ortega is reportedly a relative of the victim’s partner.

Lacsamana was killed in his home in Barangay Kaligayahan at around 4 p.m. The crime was discovered by a neighbor who noticed the gates were left open.

The witness sought assistance from other neighbors after she saw Lacsamana dead in his room from multiple stab wounds to the body.

Probers recovered a bloody 11-inch knife at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the suspect’s motive.
