MANILA, Philippines — Registered voters in Bacoor, Cavite should participate in the plebiscite for the merging and renaming of barangays in the city on Saturday, the Commission on Elections said.

The Comelec said voting would be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 223 clustered precincts in 22 voting centers.

Among the voting centers are the Bacoor National High School (annex), Poblacion Elementary School, Bacoor Elementary School, Digman Elementary School, Sineguelasan Elementary School, Mabolo Elementary School, Maliksi Elementary School, Mambog Elementary School evacuation center with covered court, Real Elementary School and Silverhomes I covered court and multi-purpose hall.

The Comelec also designated Salinas Elementary School, City of Bacoor National High School-Salinas, Aniban Elementary School, Ligas II Elementary School, Ligas I Elementary School, Niog Elementary School, Gov. P.F. Espiritu Elementary School, Perpetual Village V covered court and multi-purpose hall, Talaba Elementary School, Zapote Elementary School and Longos Elementary School as voting centers.

The plebiscite is provided under Bacoor City Ordinance No. 275-2023.

Under the ordinance, the 44 barangays in the city will be merged and renamed into 18 barangays.

Five of the barangays will also be renamed.

Early this month, residents of Carmona, also in Cavite, ratified in a plebiscite the conversion of the town into a city.

Carmona became the eighth city in Cavite, after Bacoor, Cavite City, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Imus, Tagaytay and Trece Martires.
