Patient’s pillow in missing helicopter recovered

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A pillow owned by the patient on a missing medical evacuation helicopter and a refrigerant tank have been recovered by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescue teams in the waters off Balabac, Palawan.

PCG spokesman Rear Admiral Armand Balilo told reporters yesterday that the pillow belongs to the patient, as confirmed by a relative.

However, he said it has yet to be determined if the refrigerant tank came from the missing helicopter.

“Sigurado ‘yung pillow kasi na-identify nung kamag-anak, pero ‘yung tangke ay maaaring sa isang barko o mga bangkang bumibiyahe dun,” Balilo said when asked for updates on the search and rescue operations for the missing helicopter.

Balilo clarified that it has yet to be determined if the helicopter crashed in the waters off Balabac.

Asked about traces of oil spotted during the operation, Balilo said it may have come from ships or motorized boats passing through the area.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said recovered debris are still subject to confirmation. – Rudy Santos
