PNR reopens San Pablo-Calamba route

Ghio Ong, Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The San Pablo to Calamba route of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will resume today.

The trip from San Pablo to Calamba, which spans 21 kilometers, is at 6:23 a.m.

The last trip from Calamba to San Pablo is at 6:30 p.m.

The PNR said the route was reopened after the Biñan and Tarapichi bridges were rehabilitated.

PNR general manager Jeremy Regino gave assurance that the bridges used by the trains had been fixed and strengthened.

He said he ordered regular maintenance of the bridges to avoid any untoward incident.

On Feb.1, the PNR reopened its Tutuban to Calamba route after repairing the Biñan and Palicipic-Ayungin rail bridges that were blocked with debris during the onslaught of Typhoon Paeng last year.
