BI posts 32,000 Christmas arrivals at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) registered almost 32,000 arrivals at different international airports on the eve of Christmas.
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said BI officers assigned at different airports across the country processed a total of 31,992 arrivals on Dec. 24.
Most of the international travelers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 with 10,047 passengers. NAIA Terminals 2 and 3 recorded 4,646 and 12,615 arrivals, respectively.
Tansingco said the BI processed 22,248 departures on Dec. 24.
He assured the public that while there are long lines of passengers at the NAIA terminals as travel restrictions have been eased, passengers are expeditiously processed.
“All BI counters are fully manned, our gates are being utilized and we have a special team of officers ready to augment manpower as needed,” Tansingco said. “The implementation of the e-travel system also significantly decreases the paper requirements of arriving passengers.”
